I have not yet designed a logo that increases the emotional stock value of a corporation, but I can say that I have helped change the life of a friend by contributing a few hours to him. As a designer, it’s a great feeling when something you’ve designed changes the outcome of a situation, because a bias was formed somehow, in favor of you. As was the case with my friend, Dennis. I designed his resume free of charge because I believed that he should pursue his ability to take advantage of 1-on-1 conversation as easily as he can lead a group into a lion cage. He paid it off by keeping me entertained. He’s on a promotional tour again, this time for Arby’s. Two days into it and he’s been given a taste of the resume’s effect on the bigwigs, and how it made him so unique, they forwarded his resume to the creative department for their corporate offices. Not to discredit any of his accomplishments, but sometimes all you need is more appeal, and when they looked back at his confident, decisive personality, he sealed the deal for himself. Good for you, man! |
