Okay, Dave!

Dave Werner has continued to inspire me, but up until now, I didn’t quite know why.  Watch this  and then I’ll elaborate.

At first glance, his work feels very handmade. The drawn characters are not very detailed which could lead you to think that they are amateur. This is far from the truth. The dotted eyes and single-stroke nose and mouth, over time, have developed human-like personalities that are far deeper than portraits. He’s creating an army of friendly people, birds, hippies and robots; all clones of himself! What will he do with his army? They won’t attack another country. They’re just not mean enough to pull off that type of shenanigan.

They’ll create their own planet. You see, Dave makes something out of nothing. He designs characters. And I like that. It’s a trait that similar to that of another artist I really admire,  Niko Stumpo.  I think any professional designer has acquired some form of the trait to perform their job, but these guys seem to do it effortlessly, and uniquely, even though I’m aware of the amount of work involved.

Thanks for the kind words John. It means a lot coming from someone as crazy-talented as you!
